booms Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 Hi there Just bought a second hand Mk II Galaxy Ghia and one of the headlamps has went already. I'm pretty new to this - so I thought I'd check the details here. The bottom picture is the light on full beams - with the main light not working. The other pictures are dipped, and side lights, which seem to be identical? I called a garage and was quoted just shy of £200 to replace the headlamp. Surely it shouldn't cost this much? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 Sounds like a price for a complete new headlamp unit, the headlamp bulbs are replaceable separately. H7 For dipped beam H1 For main beam Between five and ten pounds depending where you get them and what quality. Quote
booms Posted December 16, 2012 Author Report Posted December 16, 2012 so if I understand you right then I need H1? Is the replacement easy to do? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 No it's your dipped beam that's not working so you need H7 The bulbs are accessed from engine compartment, the drivers side being the easier as space is limited. Have you not got a handbook for the car as it explains the procedure for changing bulbs. Quote
